Let me straighten just one thing: it started as a brush experiment, but a big part of the effect of the image was done using Blending modes to add more color and dynamics...

that is cool - to me it looks like looking up from under water - the leaves covering the waters' surface - has depth , a 3d feel to it

I find this a really interesting image - I really like the feel to it. It draws you gently in the centre of the piece - where there is a great warm glow. It's amazing what can grow from a little experiment. I like it a lot.
